A coupling of facial recognition and HSS could deliver
a highly directional commercial message associated with a sign and be heard only by a customer standing directly in front of the sign.
I would use a non-specific facial recognition system, ie, one that simply recognizes that a face is turned in the direction of the sign, and in cases where even further discretion is desired, the system would determine a set length of time the person is facing the sign and activate the hypersonic message to them.
In simple words, if the person looks at the sign long enough to indicate interest in the subject matter, the message starts.
A handy button would activate the message for those that don't want to wait for the system to self-activate.
This would help allay the 'fears' of the privacyphobes, and insure that those interested in the subject matter would have their needs met, also.
Best,
Savant
