With its stock price up more than 40 percent in the wake of the recent huge blackout, American Superconductor Corp. is planning to sell more stock.

The Westborough, Mass.-based firm, which has its Power Electronics unit based in Middleton, announced Monday that it expects to file the registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission within the next two weeks. The amount of the stock sale was not released.

The planned stock offering replaces the company's previously announced debt financing plan to raise $50 million in the form of a term loan, convertible bonds, and a working capital credit facility.
