well there is something much more difficult to quantify about Bush wrt the economy.

It is Bush's negativity, his paranoia and vision of US imperialism that I personally think not that many US citizens even want with the exception of a few old white guys in Bush's cabinet.

The attitude Bush emminates is a negative one. He is a threatening bully to the outside world and a fear mongering preacher to the US with these constant terror alerts. All this casts a negative pall over the business climate.

In the Clinton years, one of the main reasons for the stock market strength was Clinton's own optimism. The future looked BRIGHT. Now, it looks like we are on the verge of WWIII at worst and at best we can't pay our bills.
