Jeezus Scott,
Have you and American Spirit taken some kind of pharmaceuticals that turn you into Stepford Wives for these candidates? I'm aghast. Where's the independent thought? Where's the hostility to a pretense and posing? Clearly Clark is someone we can pick apart here in our nice little SI world. Can't we? I mean, even some George Bush supporters admit that there are flaws to the man's scheming.
Why can't you do the same for the coy and seductive ex-General? His imitation of a flirt is getting a bit pathetic, IMVHO. Either he has the balls to get into the fray, or he ought to cease being such a damn media tease. His behavior has been vastly less than Presidential over the past month. Playing these silly little games of 'is he is or is he ain't' are the kind of silly seductions that phony relationships always flounder on.
Clark is being too clever by half. He needs to lead, follow or get the hell out of the way. His "coy" act indicates a profound shallowness. Generally (pun intended) speaking, this is how the general staff of the U.S. military advances. Never by being a MacArthur, Eisenhower, Sherman, Pershing or Grant. Today, it is the smarmiest of two-faced politicians who rise to the ranks of Myers, Abizaid and the rest of the general staff. But that doesn't mean that the nation is well served. It simply means that politics and appearance have trumped integrity, honesty and fair dealing.
Can Clark lead? Hell, he can't even decide if he's running. What kind of an omen is that, ferchrissakes? |
