I shot Bambi's dad. It was 19 years ago. I had both of my sons with me. My oldest was 10 and the younger 6. I had never killed something so big and with them only some fish. We gutted him with our six hands.

Today I look at my meal and thankfully prepare it. Fruits and vegetables. I take a minute to say thanks and eat.

My younger son shot 3 geese and 2 blue mountain grouse today. I watched him clean his weapon after his hunt. I asked how he cleaned the blood off himself. He understood. He said, "Dad, I did say thanks......" I understood.

He dislikes media or movies. I do as well. I like movies but when do we invest our minds into them? When we do I will attend them. When do we begin to understand the infection we spread with undisciplined thoughts and actions? Either in our movies or in our daily lifes?

We become what we see. My son proves that.

I hunt with him now. I walk without a weapon as he hunts. I remind him continuously of the beauty he is in as we walk. He listens and I talk. I talk loudly. I also slow him down. He slows down with me out of respect. He doesn't know I do it with a purpose.

Everything should be done with purpose.

If he has a son how will he walk with him?

When I leave what will I leave? You can ask my son or his son someday. They will know. I look at him and know what I leave. Good enough for me.

Life is a mirror if we look into it.
