Canada Energy Talks

MOSCOW (Moscow Times) -- Russia and Canada said they would cooperate on energy issues during a visit by the Canadian natural resources minister to Moscow on Monday, Interfax reported.

Canadian Minister Herb Dhaliwal and Russian Energy Minister Igor Yusufov discussed ways for Canadian companies to participate in Russian oil and gas projects, an Energy Ministry statement said.

They also discussed possible cooperation on the development of clean-burning coal technologies and the Kyoto agreement, which Russia has not ratified. Canada will spend $3.7 billion on implementing Kyoto projects, Dhaliwal said.
