To all: today's shorting lesson- like many of you I've been getting pounded on some of our favorite short plays. You know, the Y2K stocks, the mature tech companies with PEs of 50 and 60, the software compaies with PEs >100, etc. I have decided that in this market the best short strategy is "story stocks". A good example is CIEN which went from 57 to 49 in the last two days. If you don't know the story do your own due diligence or you'll get burned in the future. Things like supply and demand, lawsuits and product obsolescence or killer competition (re Geoworks/ MSFT windows CE) still matter (thank god) in this market. So lets focus on those stocks. Any ideas? Two that look promising that have been mentioned on this thread are AVNT and NMGC. Any opinions? Its been nice to make a few sheckels today; I almost forgot what it feels like.

Best to all:

Timoteo
