I'd never heard of the group before, but about 10 seconds on the site reaps the following (from the About Us section)...

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States[...]

We are socialists because we reject[...]

We are socialists because we share [...]

Sounds to me like they call themselves socialists ;-)

Your inference is Gray Davis is a member, because he described himself as "a progressive"? Seems to me the definition of a political progressive is one every politician of every stripe would like to apply to him or herself: Promoting or favoring progress toward better conditions or new policies, ideas, or methods. Better conditions, new ideas, that sounds like what everyone claims they'll bring if elected. 'course, they do differ on the details.

The only reference on the site to GD, incidentally, is to lump him in with GWB and "the corporate agenda". If he is a member, he should get a fee rebate ;-)

Really, there's nothing wrong with reasoned debate from both ends of the political spectrum, but it's pretty much a waste of time if it's unsupportable.
