There was a small excerpt on the ADSL market, and how it was impotant for Cisco to be a leader in the market before it exploded, they did not want to be in the same situation that they found themselves in the dial access market.

This is applicable also to the FR market of today.

In the 1994 through 1996 timeframe CSCC was beating Stratacom on virtually every deal. I will argue that these were the years that FR market was won for good. This why ASND is very happy with their FR sales and CSCO is less than happy. The next phase of the networks that were first based on CSCC technology is now beeing rolled out, the same logic applies to ASND's dominance of the dial access market and CSCO's dominance of the router market.
