One would agree, except of course that gives all those who claimed this was really a war for oil more ammunition, since most of the loans against future revenues would go to American companies in the rebuilding.

That's also something Bush didn't discuss, the fact that a lot of that money will come back home as American firms and workers get the rebuilding contracts.

And one wonders where all those economists are who claim that war is good for the economy, that it was WWII that drew us out of the depression, for example.
