As always you make good arguments. Giving out money to iraqis though may be too radical an idea. The rathole charge will reappear. The stuff about force feeding free market ideas to mideasterners is well taken. But fuzzy socialism probably wont do much better if run by the 35hours/week french or the vacationing germans. All of this is very tough. How was the Marshall plan administered? Any knowledge of that? I am hoping iraqi freedom(even if not democratic) takes hold before buchanan gets the rightwing to join deans legions in arguing for withdrawl. What a tragedy we would have caused the iraqis if we abandon them before we give it some time as the isolationists, and new, new leftist would have us do. And my question to myself is at what time during this war will i join those groups as i did during vietnam. When is it appropriated to cut and run? How does the left justify doing this even if it turns out rightfully opposing the war? What about the iraqis? Doesnt anyone give a damn about them? mike
