I suggest you read the McKinsey report again, if you even read it the first time.

They proposed that the US received 2/3 of the benefit of the offshore dollar, with india receiving 1/3.

But then, the entire equation hinged on : the theoretical employment of the displaced US worker into a more dynamic industry!

Did you just miss that Bill?

So high tech engineering goes offshore, tell me what exactly IS that more dynamic industry to receive the displaced US worker? Hollywood/filmmaking perhaps?

McKinsey's report is a kindof tunnelvision, the fact is that Forrester, McKinsey and Deloitte are making a bunch of money helping US companies offshore up the wazoo right now. McKinsey's report focussed on the rather obvious benefits of "lower costs" for labor. Well, duh.

BTW if you want to laugh hysterically, read any interview with Larry Ellison lately. He has gone off the deep end, he is equating SV with detroit. Crying the blues, waaah waah!

Larry Ellison managed to offshore himself right out of a job, the man is a stupid fool. Now he thinks the rest of the industry is as desperate as he is.
