How much did ASND pay for CSCC?

The whole gory details are in sec.gov (and other SEC filings). The cost to Ascend was 0.7 shares per share of Cascade. These were new shares, issued for the merger, So you could say that it cost Ascend nothing. All they had to do was convice the existing shareholders that the dilution of their existing Ascend shares are made up by the value of Cascade. Slick, no? The filing says:

Ascend Communications, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Ascend"), has filed a Registration Statement on Form S-4 (together with all exhibits thereto, the "Registration Statement") with the Securities and Exchange Commission (the "Commission") pursuant to the Securities Act of 1933, as amended (the "Securities Act"), covering up to 67,827,278 shares of its common stock, par value $.001 per share ("Ascend Common Stock"), to be issued in the proposed merger (the "Merger") of Catskill Merger Corporation, a Delaware corporation and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ascend ("Sub"), with and into Cascade Communications Corp., a Delaware corporation ("Cascade")...
