most of us aren't letting it be changed in the ways that matter. This month I am making a conscious effort to use up the stored food. We've already used up most of the stored batteries and the stored candles and a lot of the stored water. Every time I see the brilliant white dome of the US Capitol, gleaming in the sunlight, I recite to myself what Faust cried out, before he was taken away: "Augenblick, verweile doch, du bist so schon" ("Moment, ah still > > delay, thou art so fair") .. Foolish to love a stupid old building so much. It's just a thing. Losing it would simply be an inconvenience. Augenblick=the blink of an eye. How long did it take each of the towers to fall?
