I thank you for trying. I realized as I typed that it was really hard to communicate and I wasn't saying it as well I'd hoped when I started! Mostly it was the word "indifferent" that bothered me since I don't think anyone here is indifferent, or advocates indifference.
(why would they be here?)
I agree about the determination to defend what we are, what we have and certainly do agree about not living in fear. That is probably some of what I was saying. But it is obvious that we don't always agree on the way this should be done- and of course it is from these differences, the discussions arise here.

Hitchins and X arrived at a similar conclusion from totally opposing views of the war which I thought gave the point some interesting weight. Emotionalism especially if it evidences itself as fearful or overwhelmed, can be a distraction from real action, or even seen as a a victory for the enemy. The grim determination must be paired with a certain dignity and grace in the way we go about our days perhaps?
I fear I just bog down worse. Back to lurking!
