I'll agree with you that spending was not cut by Bush.
I would have preferred this.

But, I still prefer to have received the tax cut.
And, I still maintain that I am personally
"better off" for having received it.

If you think that the Federal Government is a corrupt
and out-of-control organization (as I do), then it is
better to cut taxes as much as possible regardless of
the short-term impact on the deficit. Otherwise, they
will just keep taking even more of our money and the
deficit will just persist anyway.

The federal government is like a drug addict who
is addicted to our tax money. It is better that the
addiction be stopped sooner rather than later.
Viewed in this light, I could argue that the tax
cuts are good for the country in the LONG-TERM
even though the deficit increased in the SHORT-TERM.
