That sounds like guilty until proven innocent. A little earlier in this discussion there were some comments about contributory negligence on the part of women and to what extent that might mitigate charges of rape. Seems to me that there can be contributory negligence on the part of men, too. Just as women shouldn't go around dressed like whores or visit the hotel rooms of strange men or get drunk without someone to look out for them, men need to be a bit judicious about where they go poking around. Making sure one has consent seems to be the most basic of judicious actions. Men should be having sex with their wives. Failing that, their fiancees. Failing that, at least with women they know well enough to be sure they are mentally stable and with enough character not to be talking out of school or making demands afterwards and the like as well as, er, clean. Just as my sympathy for the woman in the Bryant case is limited, my sympathy for him is also limited. Neither one of them acted very smart. It seems to me that a smart man would not put himself in a position to be charged with rape.
