That is a pretty good point, but ultimately smacks you in the face. I would say that if that were the sole rationale (the establishment of a well- ordered militia), then the 2nd amendment should reasonably be considered moot. By this time, the militia (the National Guard) has been professionalized, and provides its own arms. The only way that it is not moot is if the dictum about the militia is generalized as the right of communal self- defense, so that the citizenry may preserve its arms for times of emergency........
