Playmates Toys appoints a new president for its US subsidiary.
Ron Welch has a strong toy and retail background. In my view,
I see this as a positive. Richard Sallis, president of the US subsidiary
for 11 years and a member of the board of directors, has managed the
company well and avoided many of the pitfalls that have ensnared other
toy companies. However, given the ever tightening consolidation within
the toy manufacturing and retail toy sectors and the stresses and
challenges brought about by undiminishing, fearsome competition, it
would seem an opportune time for new blood. Confer:
