It amazes me that no one on this thread apparently finds this dangerous enough to our liberty to comment.

Here we have a world authority, several times removed from our electorate, given the right to force sovereign countries to accept arbitrary trade items.

This story describes a world authority completely beyond the reach of any individual citizens, led exclusively by corporate lawyers and appointed officials of influence in that venue, destroying the concept of sovereignty.

People close to the Bush administration doubt that the overall ban will be lifted any time soon. "Promises, promises. We've heard it all before," one person said.

The United States earlier this year filed a complaint against the European Union's moratorium on genetically altered organisms with the World Trade Organization.
