Our Government used to be much more corrupt than it is now, MSI. You are getting too worked up about things.
Very true, LOL!
I wish there were more equanimity possible, and admire your calmness in the face of the horrors we are heading for.
Here's the problem, when you have the POV of someone like myself:
1) Gov't is not just merely untrustworthy, but efforts such as Project Northwoods show the highest officials have actually planned making war on citizens, and get away undetected for decades.
2) The technological capabilities of this greatest power in history are reaching levels that can only be safely handled by a cadre of Saints. Nuclear war with USSR was narrowly averted, but the those warheads still exist, and threats have increased with many new and wonderfully demonic developments, as an example, race-specific biowarfare, which can accidentally or purposefully launch plagues for which there is no antidote.
3) Rather than Saints, this greatest power in history is in the hands of a small number of secretive and deceptive ideologues, who in the PNAC statement contemplate the full range of both terrorist and counter-terrorist events, making it clear that such conflict is to be encouraged. Their eager purpose is, as with Curtis LeMay wanting to preemptively nuke the Soviet Union in 1962, to "settle the issue" with various real and imagined enemies.
4) The American people have no direct view into this process, nor influence. Worse than the disconnect between voters who never vote for massive taxes & debt, the voter has even less say over when and how the US military machine is sent into war.
This "perfect storm" means this administration and its coterie have no choice if they want to stay in power, but to continue to attempt to provoke massive worldwide warfare, especially on our soil. Their incentives are such that the greater the battle, the greater their political and financial gain.
The path is so well-practiced and easy to follow, it is now on full automatic pilot. There are NO checks or balance on the totalitarian hold the current administration has -- Bush is free to run through trillions in spending, and commit the entire military to any scheme they wish, regardless of rationale.
This is the POV of someone who 'gets worked up about things', lol!
What amazes me is anyone who isn't worked up. |
