A very thoughtful post. However, I believe you're wasting it on the neocons here. The vast majority of the posters here (probably myself included, though I'll deny it) have already made up their minds on these issues. This thread is mostly simply a punching bag. When they see a post like yours, that tells them to move on, it simply compels them to vent what's still left of their anger onto you. Some will never make take that step.

As far as the use of the word 'coward', I think there are two meanings. One is the most obvious; fear of physical danger or harm. I agree these hijackers were clearly not cowards in that sense.

But I think that people who call them cowards are using a different meaning, one more of a moral cowardice, a ceding of humanity and self direction to some other power. The 9/11 hijackers made the mortal mistake of ceding their power to a Manson-like maniac, and now are burning in whatever hell exists. They were cowards in the sense that they stopped thinking for themselves and let a madman convince them to kill themselves for him. They were cowards in the sense that they threw out the moral code of their humanity and their religion and let it be supplanted by the evil moral code of murderers.

It is something that we all must all beware. In our country today, there are many people who let someone else do their thinking for them, and cede their responsibility. It's one thing to look at the issues, and decide one side or the other; it's moral cowardice to shirk that responsibility and let someone else decide for you.
