None of these ideas are being refuted by our presence in Iraq. Instead, they're being intensified.

Hello??!!.. These ideas have been pervading the region for the past 20+ years without invading Iraq.

And why do they believe this? Where did they learn it?

Do you think children are born racists and hatemongers? Think about our own racism in this nation.. Where did this hatred towards blacks and Jews originate? How long has it taken to come as far as we have?

That's the battle we're ultimately fighting Bilow and YOU KNOW IT. And sometimes force has been used to coercively "alter perceptions" that we find distasteful..

So since these values have grown in intensity PRIOR to overthrowing Saddam, and spread by militant "evangelists" throughout the world, how would you propose fighting them?

As always, I hear you constantly griping about this and that, but I don't see you proposing alternative solutions that don't involve "cutting and running" from the entire region..

A few Islamic nut cases have convinced you that the US is in danger of being "subjugated" to the will of militant Islam.

Bilow, they came 2-3 hours away from claiming the lives of 25,000-50,000 people on 9/11. Do you really think this country would be nearly as "calm" as it currently is had this number of death occurred that day?

Don't you think we'd be fully mobilized and parked in both Baghdad and Riyadh right now, with Mecca and Medina probably turned back over to the Hashemites?

What's it going to take before you open your eyes and contemplate NOT what actually happened, BUT WHAT COULD HAPPEN, if this festering wound of Islamic militancy is ignored.

The trend has CLEARLY been toward greater militancy within Islam PRIOR to Desert Storm, as well as prior to the overthrow of Saddam. Had nothing been done, the trend would have continued anyway.

No, the threat that Islamic militancy could possibly "subjugate" (YOUR WORD!!!) the "entire region, let alone the world" is only in your own mind, and a few Islamic nut cases.

Ten years ago, 40% of the Muslim world was under the age of 8. Now those youths are approaching the age of 18, with even less economic hope available to them. And with their advancing years, advances the proliferation of this militant belief system.

Just as parents in the south, after the Civil War taught their children to despise blacks, as well as Jews, asserting they were to blame for the plight of the white race and the fall of the south, these militants will pass on their views to increasing numbers of their children.

Because that's how hatemongering thrives, by blaming others for your own problems.

Let some of those facts enter into your equation.

We do not have to take part in the blood-fest that the rest of the planet loves to keep going for decades.

The same dysfunctional logic that was applied to staying out of WWI and WWII.
