13:42 ET LFL Lan Chile S.A. -- New High Profile (10.60 +0.40)
Lan Chile SA, which provides domestic and int'l passenger and cargo air services in Chile and Latin America, broke out to a new 52-week high today on almost 5x avg daily volume. In their Aug 4 note, Goldman Sachs noted that the co beat their Q2 est by a nickel, and said the co was gaining share in improving mkts and is on the way to create the first truly South American transnational airline by extending its regional footprint in Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, and potentially Argentina; firm also noted that LFL's net debt totals less than 1x annual revs (better than most major US airlines) and that cash has nearly doubled in the past few years, but said the lack of trading liquidity discourages investors despite attractive valuation. Analysts expect the co to grow 2003 EPS by 104% to $0.98 (P/E 10.7x) and to grow 2004 EPS by 46% to $1.43 (P/E 7.3x). Mkt cap: $672 mln, float: 9.6 mln shares, avg daily volume: 15k shares.
