Jewel, you are confusing me. I can't believe you don't understand "the switch."

Say you are in a medical facility like the one where I had my recent colonoscopy. They have procedure rooms and then they have a big room for prepping and recovery. There are a half dozen beds in the room and it's not unusual to wake up next to someone of the opposite sex. So there I am, lying there in a state of undress under the covers with some guy lying next to me also undressed under the covers. Do I get aroused? Of course not.

Now, if those beds were in a bedroom and the man next to me were my husband, my reaction would be entirely different.

The switch disables arousal when it is inappropriate and enables it when it is appropriate.

Same thing for doctors. That contact is therapeutic. The relationship is professional. Switch is off.

When you go to a spa or an office for a therapeutic massage, the switch is off. If it's one of those other "massages," then the switch is on. Automatic.

Same thing for brothers and sisters or fathers and daughters. Switch is off.

Context is everything.
