Do you think the sole proprietor of a coffee shop gets to have a "whites only" policy while Denny's has to be race neutral? Citizens of this country have a right to equal opportunity at services no matter how large the company is.

You get to choose your clients, don't you?

Yes, but if it were known that I was turning down clients based on sex or race because I didn't want to serve them, I would be up on ethics charges quite soon. Part of the oath I had to take to be admitted to the bar was "I will never reject, from any consideration personal to myself, the cause of the defenseless or oppressed...." I would consider rejecting clients because I didn't want to deal with people of their race or gender considerations personal to myself. And yes, before you ask, I have knowingly represented homosexuals, in one case in a matter that involved disentangling a long term homosexual relationship.
