What has Sati to do with the news item I posted to you

Sati was a religious practice. In many cases, the widow was forced by the community to die. Some widows were pushed into the pyre. The religion did not say that the widow had to die that way. But it is a social custom. Similarly, "killing the sisters to save the family honor" is a social thing, nothing to do with the religion. You can find such occurences even today though rare in countries like Pakistan and surrounding countries who are not all Muslims. Hence it is not a Muslim phenomenon.

And thanks for asking the question. I know you were aware of the practice of sati since it was you who had posted about sati some months ago on a different thread.
