All the clues were there.
The store was clinging to life with ltd selection and competing against WM.
With same store sales hard pressed, it only gets worse as they expand.

Kohl's August Same-Store Sales Rose 3.2%

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (Dow Jones)--Kohl's Corp. August same-store sales rose 3.2%, below a Thomson First Call (News - Websites) projection of 3.8%.
In a press release Thursday, the department-store chain said total sales for the four weeks ended Aug. 30 rose 15.8% to $773.5 million from $668.2 million last year.

Same-store sales for the 30 weeks of the year to date fell 0.2%, while total sales rose 14.3% to $5.1 billion from $4.46 billion a year earlier.

Including two stores opened in August, Kohl's plans to open 50 stores by October.

A spokesperson wasn't immediately available for comment.
