I was going to ask you about this. Now I first started on a PDP8 (yes, I used to have to bootstrap in octal using the switches!) but as far as I new in my time with PDP series and VAX's they never had any kind of integrated head, or terminal. All of it was RS232 attached terminals initially.

What roll did they play? We used to have Techtronix 4004 and 4014 terminals and some old CompuGraphic gear ... but again RS232 attached. Just curious ... was it just that the engineers were attached to these minis?

I always like to know more trivia ...
