Mike, I went to the VHA home page and found this interesting article on H.Pylori. The importance of the contract announcement between Quidel and VHA before August 12, seems more significant than the fact that the contract is retroactive to July 1. Possibly the July 1 date is important because, VHA plans to mention Quidel in its upcomming video on Ulcers described in the following link, and the video production was in the making since July 1. It may be possible that that VHA didn't want Quidel to announce the contractual arrangement too far in advance of VHA's planned video production, because Abbot Labs also appears to have some connection with this video and also because VHA didn't want Quidel to steal the thunder so to speak. Another reason for the late announcement is that Quidel knew its Q-report would be disappointing and didn't want the good news of this contract announcement overshadowed by the earnings report. In any case one can hope that Quidel will be mentioned in the video which appears to have a big build up. At least in the VHA family and is planned for an August 12 debut. vha.com Jerry
