Acacia Technologies Licenses Digital Media Transmission Technology to Subsidiary of New Frontier Media Friday September 12, 4:20 pm ET
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 12, 2003--Acacia Research Corporation (Nasdaq:ACTG - News; Nasdaq:CBMX - News) announced today that its Acacia Technologies group has entered into a Webmaster License Agreement, and Content Provider License Agreement, with Interactive Gallery, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of New Frontier Media, Inc. (Nasdaq:NOOF - News). The License Agreements, covering Acacia's DMT technology, resolved patent litigation initiated by Acacia against Interactive Gallery, pending in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Acacia originally initiated patent litigation in the District Court against 39 adult entertainment defendants. Sixteen of these defendants remain in the pending litigation.
Acacia has now entered into 37 license agreements for its DMT technology.
Acacia's DMT technology, which is covered by pioneering patents, relates to audio and video transmission and receiving systems, commonly known as audio-on-demand, video-on-demand, and audio/video streaming, and is used for distributing digital content via several means including Internet, cable television, and wireless systems. |
