So its about precedents rather then abstract principle right?

Well, yeah, legally.

Tim, I keep trying to find ways to make this thing work for the guy, even though I think what he considers his conscience speaking is more of a loose screw rattling around and even though I mightily disapprove of discrimination.

To that end, I offered precedent as a way for him to get around the woman issue. I offered that a religious exemption might work better than one of conscience if he needed to defend himself. I offered that he might confine his client base to people he knew and referrals as the cleanest way of weeding out the oversexed and underswitched and also the gays. I'm trying. And getting no credit for it from the originator of this hypothetical, I might add. So cut me some slack, will you? <g>

I still think he should choose another line of work.
