AO MOSENERGO prepares distribution grid for heating season

The preparation of electric grids for heating season of 2003-2004 is a major goal of AO MOSENERGO's maintenance campaign. To supply power to 11 towns, 100 townships and more than 7,000 villages of the Moscow region, the Company uses 0.4-10 kV lines.

From the start of the maintenance campaign, AO MOSENERGO has carried out maintenance on more than 950 km of 0.4-10 kV electric lines and 557 6-10/0.4 kV transformers. The company replaced 5,500 pillars for 0.4-10 kV electric lines and more than 760 km of wires. AO MOSENERGO's specialists eliminated damages and defects at more than 1,000 6-10 kV lines.

One of the Company's objectives is the construction of transformers and upgrades of old distribution grids. The power consumption in the region annually grows by 5% making it necessary to develop AO MOSENERGO's grids. This year, the Company plans to upgrade more than 630 km of aerial 0.4-10 kV lines and set up more than 80 transformers (total installed capacity – 12,000 kVA). AO MOSENERGO has allocated for these purposes 300 million rubles. As of today, 390 km of 0.4-10 kV lines are already operational.

AO MOSENERGO constructs new distribution lines and replaces old ones using only insulated cables. They are more safe and resistant in case of external impact (falling trees, snow, ice, strong wind up to 25 m/sec). Moreover, insulation prevents non-sanctioned connections and theft of electric wire.

The thorough preparation of distribution grids for the winter season will make it possible for AO MOSENERGO to ensure reliable power supply in the winter period.
