OFF TOPIC

If your predictions are correct, we're in for some staggering volatility in the bond market. I have no doubt that this would spill into the equity market, particularly the tech area.

Regarding the Phillips Curve: I was always amused by this concept. Theoretically, I think that the relationship must be true. The problem with using a graphical "curve" however, is that we never really know where on the curve we are. That is to say, how do we know what threshhold employment percentage will re-kindle inflation? It used to be that the employment levels we are currently experiencing would have caused a market meltdown. One thing that has likely changed in the past twenty years is the restructuring (downsizing) and general de-unionization of the labor force. The threat of losing one's job, coupled with a decreased ability to organize in force holds down the traditional wage-price spiral. Thus, you can have a lower unemployment rate without pressuring wages. In this regard, I think that the UPS strike is quite ominous (the new Teamsters leader is a true activist, and is making unions relevant again).
