I am wondering if perhaps the Bushies are being encouraged to hang tough because of the huge support being given to the dollar by Asian Central bankers -- primarily Japan and China.

When all is said and done the big rally in US financial markets could not have happened without such support. The Asians have in essence financed the US war effort. Frankly this came as a big surprise to me considering the widespread opposition to the war globally. As weak as Bush looks now politically, he would be DEAD MEAT FOR SURE without this implicit Asian support.
