Bush Met With Another Protest in Houston

George W. Bush came back to Houston in an unpublicized trip to fundraise for a Christian community center. The Houston Coalition For Justice Not War was able to gather a number of protesters on short notice. Police relegated the protesters to a small "Free Speech Zone" that was out of sight from both the press and the attendees of the fundraiser.

HCJNW members observed Bush's entrance path, and started moving toward the street where Bush's motorcade would pass when leaving.

Mounted police told them to return to the designated area. Ken Freeland and Nebeil Al-Abouti, of HCJNW, were momentarily detained, and threatened with arrest for entering a undesignated area. While detained, they negotiated with the police for a new location.. The ranking officier agreed to let all of the protesters assemble approximately 50 feet away from the route of Bush's motorcade. As the motorcade passed by, protesters saw Bush lean forward to read their signs.
