No admission. Just facts on top of facts.
If the officers feared for their lives because the Waco Wackos were heavily armed, with heavy machine guns, then of course they would be cautious. Turns out, they should have been MORE cautious, and shown up in tanks. Then we'd still have four good men still alive.
"The bottom line is truly that the Davidians shouldn't shoot and kill law enforcement officers serving warrants. However, if the first move of the ATF officers "serving warrants" was to move in by ground and air in an offensive guns drawn manner and shooting first, the Davidians would certainly be wholly justified to shoot back"
Wrong. If an officer pulls you over, and thinks you are a menance, then he has every right (and duty) to arm himself. Your 'offensive guns' is an odd statement; is there a difference between a 'defensive' gun and an 'offensive' gun? You are betraying your leanings with such statements.
Were the warrants legal? Should an officer have a right to protect himself when serving a warrant on a heavily armed suspect? Should officers have a right to defend themselves when fired upon?
Your argument about the helicopters is a non sequitur. In negotiations with a madman who, as you admit, is 'holding hostages', you'll say what needs to be said to save lives. Unfortunately, Koresh never had any intention of letting any of his people live, being the Jim Jones character that he was.
The last part of your argument is incredible. You're saying that if the Davidians were truly guilty, they would have killed more than the four agents they killed. I'm sure that would have made a great defense if Koresh hadn't gone and killed himself and all his followers. |
