ADIC Announces StorNext Management Suite Version to Manage Data on Enterprise Disk and ATA Arrays

New Linux and UNIX Platforms Extend Heterogeneous Support Leadership

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 15, 2003--Advanced Digital Information Corporation (Nasdaq:ADIC) announced today the release of the 2.2 version of the company's StorNext Management Suite (SNMS), the leading high performance data management software for open system SANs.
Expanding on organizations' ability to plan for Total Data Life Management(TM), SNMS 2.2 allows the new high-capacity, low-cost ATA-based arrays to become an additional enterprise storage tier, along with high-performance disk systems and automated tape libraries. Based on automated user-defined policies, organizations can now decide that there is a "life stage" for data when the performance capabilities of ATA disk will meet the access requirements of users. With the new release, SNMS also extends these capabilities to IBM AIX and SuSE Linux operating systems, expanding what was already the industry's leading list of supported open system platforms.
With SNMS, users define data management policies that both place newly created data on appropriate disk types and automatically move existing data between expensive, enterprise disk systems, low-cost ATA arrays, and tape media. Locating data automatically on different media types based on quality of service, access time, and protection requirements allows IT managers to reduce their total ownership costs while managing the life cycle of data.

StorNext Management Suite 2.2 extends the software's lead in supporting the widest range of different operating systems and storage environments. With the new release, support has been added for IBM AIX, for SuSE Linux, and for the latest versions of Windows XP and Windows 2003 server. Support has also been extended to new tape-based storage systems, including AIT WORM drive technology, StorageTek 9940B drives, and ADIC's new Scalar i2000 automated tape library.
