You presume that the system is easy to sum. Maybe non-gay children have more children if they have a gay sibling. We'd have to know how the whole thing started in order to sum up this system. If a gay sibling was more of a help to the family, and increased the liklihood of kin to survive to adulthood, he might actually have more impact than if he had his own children. This is especially true if he is helping his siblings to adulthood- because they are 100% the same DNA as the parents- whereas children of our hypothetical gay person would only be 50% kin genes. If homosexuality is some adaptation to aid related kin, then it would make more sense to aid those 100% related to you.
