Well, I agree with what you said Mr. Mark, but don't forget that wireless is different from wired. Wired attacks go to everyone because if the computer is connected to the Internet, there is a simple way to ping and try to hack it. If your computer was disconnected from Internet, there was no way to hack it except for physical break-in.

With wireless, the situation is similar to a computer with no connection to Internet: you have to be in proximity to hack. If you have 1000 acres in Montana, nobody will hack you because they would have to drive to your window (under your gun rack presenting a very nice target :-))) to just get access to the signal.

The proximity requirement immediately eliminates most (99%?) of the hackers. You may be in higher danger in cities, airports, etc.

This does not mean that you don't require security. It just means that it's a very different environment than wired internet.

Jurgis - electric fence is a good protection measure... :-)))
