"Since you raised the question of his freedom of conscience, you must have thought him doing something he wasn't supposed to.

No. I did not think of him as doing something that he wasn't supposed to. What would that be?

"So why DID you bring up this therapist scenario, anyway?"

I brought it up because I thought it would be a challenge to conventional wisdom, and to overly zealous social advocacy types. I was correct. I have now seen my therapist compared to people who would not be compassionate in life and death situations. I have seen his character demeaned and drug through the mud. I have seen his principles dismissed as irrelevant in the face of PC conventions.

This, I thought, would be easy to work through for reasonable human beings. This is clearly not a black and white situation. There are masseuses who operate a sexual eroticism service, masseuses that operate on a similar but more restrictive restorative envigorating/relaxation therapy, and masseuses that operate on clinical medical therapy. In a perfect world there would be no grey areas that overlap. My masseus guy is willing and able to say "the king has no cloths," but I will give him a massage as long as I can have my own boundaries respected.

If we can resolve this easy issue as one of 'freedom of conscience,' then we could practically debate some harder ones.
