Your continued support of something wrong is the idiocy here.

Why is it wrong?

Some soldiers get military meals, others get money to at least partially cover the cost of their meals. People who receive the money and go to a military hospital are getting free meals + the money for the meals. So they are asked to give the money back. What about the solider who get free meals normally and so are not getting the extra payments? If it is right that soldiers in hospitals should get extra money (and you have not made that case) shouldn't they also get the extra money? If you think they should get some sort of monetary reward for being in the hospital then you should argue specifically for that not for extra meal payments.
