I acknowledge the possible threat, but I don't think that the defense against this threat is home gun ownership. On the contrary, the best defense against this sort of 'creeping tyranny' is an informed public. One that insists on transparent government and full disclosure. One that rejects politicians who hide behind the vail of 'national security' when they actively abuse their power. One that elects politicians based on their adherence to the ideals of Democracy; that the people run the show, and the leaders are servants of those people. One that requires its leaders to be inspired not by some religious divinity, but by the spark and spirit of democracy and freedom.

One that throws the like of Cheney and Rove out the door. Bush would do well to jettison those two, and more, if he wants to get back on the right track. But I fear it is too late, as the master/dog relationship is fully cemented...
