Problem is, with all the paper profits the gold longs have, some part of their group is bound to bolt at some point and take profits. That will start the train rolling downhill. This will especially be the case if the stock market starts leaking badly, and gold profits are used to balance against stock losses.

I am in the camp that says gold will continue moving directionally where the stock market goes (and inverse to bonds) over the next few months. If you are a gold bull, hope that stocks stay levitated and the bond market sinks.

The commercials may very well cover at what are still elevated prices (above $350), but I seriously doubt they will knowingly place themselves in a position to be squeezed.
