There is a level in this recall/judges stuff that is more than troubling. If the Supreme Court's decision in Gore vs. Bush can easily be read as a completely political decision; this can be read so as well. What happens then is that we move ever deeper into a narrative in which there is no shame for judges making completely political decisions.

At the moment, the Supremes Gore vs. Bush is the paradigm.
