somehow most people in the u.s. were brainwashed into absolutely adoring both democracy and health insurance... as if these two were at the pinnacle of all human endeavor and existence... so even though democracy is in truth a sham, most people think it's the bees knees and have absolutely no problem with the concept of 51% of humanity being able to make the other 49% do whatever the vote says; and even though the cost of health insurance goes through the roof, most people continue to blindly and obediently pay for it... when they would have simply been better off from the get-go eating a lot of garlic...

edit: oh and this is assuming that the vote is always fairly counted, and that the doctors actually know what they are really doing... both tenuous suppositions at best...
