The "%" part is tricky because the search terms are part of the URL for a found message and "%" has special meaning when included in a URL.

But, even without that there's a "bug" in the search system in that posts that're deleted from the main database aren't deleted from the search index, so it's possible to have a message show up in search but be unable to get to it because it's deleted.
