Apple Users Agree to Bury the Hatchet with Microsoft, According to Computerworld Survey

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Aug. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- An overwhelming majority of Apple users are in favor of Microsoft's $150 million investment in the troubled vendor, according to a survey conducted by Compterworld, the leading newsweekly for information technology (IT) leaders. Computerworld's survey of 104 corporate Apple users found that 93% believe that a truce between Microsoft and Apple is a good thing for Apple Computer.

Apple respondents also agree that the appointment of Oracle Corp. chairman Larry Ellison was a good thing for the troubled Apple. But they were less decisive when asked if they would approve of Steve Jobs as chairman of Apple Computer. Only 36% of users surveyed felt Jobs should hold the position, while 31% said no and 34% were undecided. Users also split on the question of whether Apple's adoption of Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser was a good thing for Apple.

Findings of the survey include:

Computerworld surveyed 104 Apple business users from their proprietary buyers database who have 25 or more Apple desktops in use as well as planning spending on Apple desktops.
