But even on non-California gasoline, PZEVs pollute little. Ford says the
PZEV Focus puts out a pound of smog-producing pollutants in 15,000 miles
on California gas, roughly two pounds on typical U.S. fuel. A non-PZEV
Focus would put out 10.7 pounds in 15,000 miles, Ford calculates.

About five, six years ago, on a Bill Moyers special, it was pointed out that ten percent of the world's pollution comes from satellite launches! Yes. I was reading today, the whole in the ozone layer which had been shrinking is now expanding at a terrific rate - no doubt because of Bush and his irresponsible anti-clean air tactics: The hole in the protective ozone layer over the Antarctic has expanded more rapidly than in recent years and has reached the record level set three years ago, the World Meteorological Organisation has said.

WMO said in a statement that the 28-million-square-kilometre hole was in "stark contrast" to last year, when it had shrunk to its smallest level in more than a decade and split in two.

"It cannot be predicted with certainty whether the ozone hole will continue to grow during the next few weeks," WMO said.

The hole, which is influenced by climatic conditions as well as pollution, normally reaches its peak in mid- to late-September.
