"In an interview, Mr. Lemaitre said critical data from the study were out "in about a nanosecond" after the press conference. The embargo, he said, "wasn't a very fine filter" for the information."

If a nanosecond was all the elapsed time, a phone record check of calls to and by Mr. Lemaitre oughta be conclusive. Of course, in a recession we don't want to pay for more jails, we just want to send more people to them.

OT: Shoulda seen Wes Clark's candidacy coming. Drudge had a report yesterday about how a British general stopped him from starting WWIII over the intended Russian occupation of the Pristina airport in Kosovo. Seemed unlikely (waaaay beyond outa left field), but makes sense in the new political context. Is anyone sufficiently paranoid to wonder how a journalist knew what questions to ask a British general to hurt Clark, and how he/she picked the day to do it?

Not paranoid enough? Think about Bush vs. Gore, round II. Uggghhhhh! Only 10% would vote, and those would be the ones who have kept their Halloween masks to wear to the polls.
